Study: Prevailing Wage Is A ‘Positive’ Economic Development Tool

The state would see a loss of 11,000 jobs, $1.7 billion in economic output and $28 million in tax revenue if its prevailing wage law were repealed, a study conducted by Midwest Economic Policy Institute, Colorado State University Economist Kevin Duncan and Smart Cities Prevail said. The study - The Cost of Repealing Michigan Prevailing Wage Policy – published last week, said supporters of prevailing wage law say it will save the state money, but the report counters the argument, saying labor costs are a small share of total construction costs. To read more, click here.
