The 15th Annual Carpenters’ Christmas for Kids celebration on Friday, December 16, 2011. In addition to all of the presents the carpenters deliver each year to the students, a donation of $10,000 was presented to Spain School for upgrades in technology, a school food pantry for families in need and school uniforms. Each year, members of the MRCC volunteer at Mentor A Girl In Construction Camp, presented by the National Association of Women in Construction at the Orchard Ridge Campus of OCC. The MRCC constructed the first fixed in-ground trench rescue training facility of its kind for the Southfield Fire Department, housed at Southfield Fire Station #5 on Lahser Road. Each holiday season since 1997, the MRCC has hosted Carpenters’ Christmas for Kids, a holiday party for approximately 1,000 children at Spain Dual School in Detroit, located near the MRCC’s headquarters in Detroit. The MRCC worked on this project connecting area freeways to the Ambassador Bridge and Detroit’s Mexicantown neighborhood. It included reconstructed freeways and a new interchange for I-75 and I-96, a pedestrian bridge connecting east and west Mexicantown, and a redesigned Ambassador Bridge Plaza. Share this page:
